Worship
We offer two styles of Worship:
9:30 a.m. Contemporary
Much of the worship is lead by a praise band, using contemporary instruments and music to praise God. The praise band consists of three or four vocalists, guitars, drums, piano, and keyboard, and varies by the week. Occasionally, high-school students from the Youth classes will lead the worship set.
11:00 a.m. Blended
The Blended format, in spite of its name, is largely traditional. Although some contemporary music is presented, the instrumentation is toned down, and the majority of music is derived from traditional hymnals. The music is usually led by a pianist, organist, and Pastor Michael, although the Children's and Adult Choirs may also participate during some services.
There are a few, ahem, "guidelines" that potential visitors and regular attendees should think about. Thanks to the Mount Clemens United Methodist Church Website (http://www.mountclemensumc.org) for the inspiration:
Don't worry about what clothes are appropriate for our services. There are many people who wear suits to church, and others who come in jeans and shorts, it doesn't make a difference. Of course, for health reasons, wearing shorts to church in the event of a snowstorm is not recommended, but we won't welcome you any less if you decided to. Feel free to wear something comfortable
Don't worry about being "singled out." No worship service will pressure you to come up front, say something, or expose you in any way.
Do bring family along. We offer nursery for young toddlers, as well as classes for children and adults. Some classes are only offered during particular services (for example, all high-school and junior-high classes are offered during the 11:00 service), so don't be afraid to contact us.
Do worship in the way that you feel is best. If you feel the urge to stand up and wave your hands in praise, or prefer to meditate quietly over the meanings of the songs and sermons, do so. Remember, it is not the congregation whom is the audience; God is, and we are to worship him.
And, most importantly;
Do expect Jesus to change your life.
Communion:
Every week, during both services, all Christians may partake in the Lord's Supper- the Bread first and please, if you are able, hold the Cup until we drink it together.
